Unwind Sustainably at The Roost — Luxury Retreats Surrounded by Nature

What a fantastic place to stay! On the edge of the Forest of Dean, it’s the perfect location to explore. We saw an abundance of wildlife - esp in the sky! The lodge itself is just the right size for two people and a dog (very accommodating for dogs). The highlight is the Japanese soak tub - sitting in there and watching the bats was memorable. Lorraine was a great host and always got back to us quickly, plus she has thought of lots of nice touches, like the brownie and food staples!

We have stayed in many holiday properties over the years, but The Roost Retreats is truly exceptional and deserves every award it has received.

From the moment we arrived, the attention to detail was obvious. The accommodation was incredibly clean, beautifully presented, and equipped to an exceptionally high standard. The quality linen, bedding, towels and dressing gowns all added to the feeling of luxury and comfort.

The kitchen is superbly equipped with quality branded appliances, including a microwave, coffee maker, induction hob and dishwasher. Everything you could possibly need is provided, from quality cutlery and cookware to all the little extras that make a stay effortless.

The bathroom is modern, fully tiled and immaculately maintained, with a heated towel rail adding an extra touch of comfort.

The living area is warm and inviting, with a comfortable settee and a wonderful wood-burning stove. Plenty of logs are supplied, and we loved the thoughtful touch of having marshmallows ready for toasting.

Outside, the enclosed garden is beautifully designed with living willow structures and is completely secure for dogs, giving real peace of mind. Our dogs were able to enjoy the space safely while we relaxed.

The Japanese soaking tub and sauna provide a fantastic spa-like experience, and there are plenty of towels provided for their use. In the evening, sitting on the swing seat with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down in complete tranquillity, was simply magical.

If you are looking for genuine peace and quiet, this is the perfect destination. Apart from the sounds of wildlife, there is virtually no noise pollution, and the lack of light pollution makes the nights equally special.

The owners have clearly invested an enormous amount of thought, care and intelligent design into every aspect of the retreat. Their passion for creating an outstanding guest experience shines through in every detail.

A truly outstanding place to stay. We would not hesitate to return and can wholeheartedly recommend The Roost Retreats to anyone looking for a luxury escape in beautiful surroundings.

We had a very pleasant stay in The Nook last month to celebrate my 40th. It is a cosy and well equipped little cabin set in a small garden. The sauna and plunge pool are a nice touch. The cabin is starting to look rather tired however. Broken toilet flush, rusted oven, broken/warped pans etc. Clearly there had been a leak/flood in the past. The local woodland didn’t offer much in the way of walks. We felt the price point was a little high for what we got.

What an amazing place to switch off from the world. Lorraine has created magic at The Roost! She has anticipated your every want and need. Everything has been thought through to such a high standard. I cannot recommend this place enough. We can't wait to return.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Nest at Roost Retreats! We absolutely loved the beautiful and thoughtfully appointed cabin, the amazing views and the tranquility. We were blessed with good weather and didn’t want to move from the swing seat in the sun! We enjoyed using the sauna, the Japanese bath and sitting by the firepit in the evening - and the delicious pre-ordered Thai meal. All of us, including our pooch, had a very relaxing time. In hindsight, we wish we had booked for longer 🙂. Thank you Lorraine for creating such a relaxing haven. xxx

We spent a weekend in The Nest at the start of March, me my husband and dog. It was perfect! The cabin is fitted out with high quality accessories and is so well thought out, it’s comfortable, cosy, luxurious and the perfect spot for walks and quiet time. Thank you for the beautiful stay!

We had a fabulous stay with our dog. Perfect paces to relax and recharge. So many dog friendly attractions and restaurants near by.

We had a truly awesome stay at the nook while welcoming in the new year, the cabin is beautifully decorated and all the small touches was a plus from the welcome brownies to the toasty marshmallows…..the outside Japanese bath and sauna was just great……would highly recommend this beautiful place…x

My partner and I stayed in the nook to celebrate her 30th birthday. There were so many amazing personal touches - brownies and cake wait for us when we arrived, marshmallows by the fire to roast, a birthday banner hung up, basic meal ingredients such as pasta rice etc so you don't have to go and buy lots.

I location was amazing and star gazing from the Japanese tub on a clear night was breathtaking. The facilities were clean cosy and perfect for a couple, the sauna was easy to use and the all questions were answered in the app on the tablet provided in the cabin.

If you want to slow down, switch off and enjoy peace and serenity I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

I can't thank Lorraine enough - it was the most memorable staycation I have ever been on and I am sure we will return.
